Abstract

In searching for political information, multimedia material is extremely significant. The use of multimodality can enhance the effectiveness of a video by engaging multiple senses and creating a more immersive experience for viewers. It can also help to differentiate a particular genre of video from others and provide a unique and recognizable style that audiences can associate with that genre. The scope of the following study encompasses the question whether the multimodal constructions of the English language can be rendered into the Ukrainian language with severe meaning loss. We address this question using a variety of political texts representing various video genres, such as interview, political show and political debates in English. We find that the strategy for rendering texts of political discourse in different video genres depends on the ability to use appropriate rendering strategy which helps to convey multimodal constructions from English into Ukrainian to ensure effective communication.
